I have painted this portrait of Viktor Frankl ( Jewish-Austrian psychiatrist who founded logotherapy) during the the first corona virus quarentine back in 2021 in my modern abstract style.
I was quite inspired from his book “Man's Search for Meaning” and the lock-down made me reflect on what is to be imprisoned and have our freedom taken from us. Although not at all comparable with the atrocities of concentration camps, I believe the covid pandemic brought on us humans a small taste of what freedom means.
For Frnakl life ultimately meant taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual. We can all learn a bit with the wisdom of this man…
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.” - Viktor Frankl
